This collection consists of nine antique and vintage optical instruments and magnifying aids. The lot includes a pair of metal-framed pince-nez spectacles, the bridge engraved C.W. DIXEY & SON / 3, NEW BOND ST / LONDON W. These feature circular lenses and a spring-tension bridge with a small loop for a cord or chain. Also included is a square-framed folding linen tester or counting glass in a silver-toned metal frame over brass. Handheld instruments comprise a large circular magnifier with a chrome-plated rim and a turned black ebonite or plastic handle, a magnifier with a wide scalloped brass frame and hanging loop, and an ornate pendant magnifier with a gold-toned filigree handle. Pocket and folding items include a small circular magnifier pivoting into a protective brass case, a magnifier with a teardrop-shaped folding brass wire handle, a silver-toned magnifier with a double-wire folding handle, and a circular lens with a brass rim and swivel-action hanging loop attached to a knurled collar.
