Another Great Auction
A pair of Chinese-style turquoise glazed ceramic Foo Dogs, also known as Imperial Guardian Lions. The set is arranged in a traditional male and female pairing. The male lion is modelled with its front right paw resting upon a pierced ball, whilst the female lion is depicted with its front left paw over a small cub. Both figures feature characteristic stylized curly manes, bulging eyes, and open mouths. Each figure is mounted on an integral rectangular waisted pedestal base, decorated with moulded geometric patterns. The figures are finished in a vibrant, monochrome turquoise blue glaze, a style characteristic of 20th-century Chinese export wares. No maker marks or inscriptions are visible on the exterior surfaces.
