The piece is crafted from matte, unglazed white porcelain designed to emulate the appearance of carved marble. This specific model was designed by the sculptor John Bell (1811-1895) for Minton and was first exhibited in 1847. No factory marks, signatures, or model numbers are visible on the base of this example.
