An original mid-to-late 20th-century oil on canvas landscape painting, signed Recco in the lower right corner. The composition depicts a cluster of white-walled, terracotta-roofed buildings situated on the bank of a reflective body of water. The scene is framed by mature trees with autumnal and green foliage, with distant snow-capped mountains appearing under a pale, hazy sky. The artist has employed impasto techniques, particularly in the foreground grasses and trees, to create physical texture, contrasted with more blended applications in the sky and water. The work is housed in a substantial tiered wooden frame with a gold-toned inner cove and a darker, textured outer moulding.
