The instrument is fitted with two white register plates, likely bone or ivory, secured by four decorative star-patterned screws. The left plate is engraved with weather indications including Serene, FAIR, Change, RAIN, and Stormy. The right plate displays a barometric scale calibrated from 27 to 31 inches, equipped with a manual vernier scale operated by a brass adjustment knob. The plates are further detailed with engraved flourishes and a fleur-de-lis. An exposed glass mercury tube is mounted down the centre of the case, held by three brass retaining clips. No maker’s mark is visible on the plates or the case. Please note that this item contains mercury and will require specialist shipping.
