An Art Deco hall barometer and mirror ensemble, circa 1930s. The piece features an architectural oak case of geometric, stepped design, incorporating an inset square aneroid barometer to the left and a central octagonal bevelled mirror. To the right is a stepped bracket fitted with two wooden hooks. The barometer features a square white-finished dial with dual scales and text printed in black and red. The black scale relates to rising air pressure with indicators for Rainy gloomy windy, Changeable, Fair and dry, and Very dry sunny. The red scale relates to falling air pressure with indicators including More rain storm, Some rain cool winds dulness, and Fine weather increase of clouds. A central square aperture reveals the internal aneroid mechanism. The case is constructed from solid and veneered oak with a visible grain and stepped terminals.
