Another Great Auction
This bronze alloy sculpture, executed in the Academic style, depicts a draped female figure in a graceful pose accompanied by a winged putto at her feet. The female figure is rendered with intricate detail in her flowing garments and expressive movement, with her right arm raised towards her head. The associated putto is depicted reaching upwards towards the woman. The work is finished with a dark brown patina showing characteristic wear to the raised surfaces. The sculpture is mounted on a stepped metal base which is fixed to a mottled grey and white marble plinth. The overall design and composition are highly consistent with the works of the French sculptor Auguste Moreau. No signatures or foundry marks were observed in the photographs provided.
