Another Great Auction
A large-scale glazed porcelain figurine from the Spanish manufacturer Lladró, titled The Lamplighter (Spanish: El Farolero), model number 5205. Designed by sculptor Salvador Furió and first issued in 1984, this piece depicts a Victorian-era lamplighter dressed in a long blue overcoat, grey scarf, and brown cap. The figure stands beside a tall, fluted grey street lamp and holds a detachable long, dark-finished metal ignition pole with brass-toned tips. The base is finished with a cobbled effect and includes a small porcelain detail of a discarded newspaper. The underside of the base features a blue printed backstamp reading LLADRÓ, HAND MADE IN SPAIN, and © DAISA 1983. There are also incised marks including F-3 N, E, and the model number 5205.
