A 9ct yellow gold dress ring featuring a central round faceted deep red stone, likely a garnet. The stone is claw-set within a decorative scalloped mount and was originally surrounded by a halo of white seed pearls. The ring is designed with decorative split shoulders leading to a unique cast floral or star-shaped motif at the base of the shank. The interior of the shank is stamped with hallmarks including the 375 fineness mark for 9 carat gold and the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office. A date letter and maker’s mark are present but worn, and an additional P mark is visible in a circular punch.
Weight: 3.2g.
