A pair of Victorian sterling silver flatware items consisting of a spoon and a four-tine fork, traditionally produced as a child’s christening set. The items feature dense engraved and stamped decoration in a Victorian revivalist style, incorporating foliate scrolls, geometric diaper work, and star motifs across the handles and the reverse of the spoon bowl. Both pieces feature a shaped terminal with a circular cartouche containing an engraved MG monogram. Full British hallmarks are struck to the handles of both pieces.

Assay office: Leopard’s head for London

Date letter: Gothic capital G for 1842
