Another Great Auction
A George V sterling silver coffee pot by the renowned silversmiths Edward Barnard and Sons Ltd, designed in the Early Georgian revival style. The vessel features a tapering cylindrical body with a flared, stepped circular base and a corresponding moulded rim. It is fitted with an ornate, cast spout decorated with scrollwork and foliate motifs, terminating in a duck-head form. The hinged, domed lid is surmounted by a knopped finial. The pot is completed with a C-scroll ebonised wood handle designed for heat insulation. The body bears a full set of English hallmarks for the London Assay Office: the maker mark E.B over S for Edward Barnard and Sons Ltd, the lion passant indicating .925 sterling silver, the leopard head for London, and the date letter R for 1912.
