A contemporary mechanical bank manufactured by B & P, featuring a monkey figure designed to move vertically along a channel in a palm tree trunk. The piece is constructed from cast iron with a painted finish. The monkey is depicted in black with tan-coloured face, hands, and feet. The palm tree consists of a brown textured trunk topped with green fronds. The circular base is finished in red with the words MONKEY BANK in raised, yellow-painted block lettering. The green top surface of the base features small black mounds representing coconuts or stones. A black circular activation button is situated on the underside of the base. The assembly utilizes modern Phillips head screws, which are visible on the monkey’s back and the base, identifying this as a modern reproduction. The underside features the embossed manufacturer mark B & P.
