The volume is presented in a bespoke wooden slipcase designed to resemble a military equipment crate, finished in olive drab paint with white stencilled text on the front reading CONTENTS BOOK (I) / ONE LAST LOOK / KAPLAN, PHILIP / SMITH, REX ALAN / ABBEVILLE PRESS. The book retains its original photographic dust jacket featuring a cockpit interior. The work provides a detailed narrative and photographic record of the American heavy bomber bases located in England during the Second World War, containing numerous contemporary and archival illustrations.
