A collection of small-format pocketbook volumes from the long-running The Observer’s Books series. The lot primarily comprises editions published by Frederick Warne and Co. Ltd., London, alongside several later volumes issued by Bloomsbury Books. The collection covers a broad spectrum of technical, natural history, and artistic subjects. Titles identified include Aircraft (various editions), Awards and Medals, Ships, Pond Life, British Steam Locomotives, Painting, Freshwater Fishes, Music, Automobiles, Basic Aircraft (Civil and Military editions), Wild Flowers, Geology, Birds’ Eggs, Rocks and Minerals, Insects, Heraldry, Airliners, Coarse Fishing, Sculpture, Tanks, Flags, and Trees. The books are bound in various styles, including publisher’s cloth in diverse colours with printed or gilt lettering, and pictorial paper-covered boards. Several volumes retain their original illustrated dust jackets. Spines frequently display the Frederick Warne logo and series volume numbers, such as 2 for Wild Flowers, 11 for Aircraft, and 21 for Automobiles. The volume on Flags is bound in blue textured cloth with the series emblem to the upper board.
