A matched two-volume set of the Holy Bible, bound in full dark brown textured leather, likely morocco or goatskin. The spines are constructed with five raised bands, creating compartments decorated with gilt-stamped horizontal rules and lettering. Volume I is lettered HOLY BIBLE. / VOL. 1. / GEN. – S. SONG., while Volume II is lettered HOLY BIBLE. / VOL. 2. / ISA. – REV. The interior features traditional marbled endpapers in a stone or shell pattern with blue, red, and yellow tones. Affixed to the front pastedown is a rectangular black leather presentation label with a gilt double-rule border, bearing the gilt-stamped inscription: MARY ANN CRIDDLE, / AUGT: 24. 1848.
