A Stanley Bailey No. 4 smoothing bench plane, manufactured in England. The tool features a cast iron body with a black japanned finish, a steel iron, and a matching chipbreaker. The handle and front knob are constructed from black plastic, characteristic of production from the late 20th century. The chrome-plated lever cap displays the Stanley brand name in raised lettering against a red-painted ground. The cutting iron is stamped with the maker’s mark, Made in England, and a 25-degree grinding angle guide. The plane is housed in its original pictorial cardboard box, which includes a yellow hanging tab and internal waxed protective paper.
