Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises a framed chromolithograph postcard from the Raphael Tuck and Sons Connoisseur series, number 2731, titled Rosaund. The work is after an original painting by Angelo Asti (Italian, 1847–1903) that was exhibited at the Paris Salon. The portrait depicts a dark-haired woman with a red flower in her hair, draped in a yellow shawl. The print features a printed signature A. Asti to the right-hand side. The verso of the frame is open to reveal the back of the postcard, which is postmarked Birmingham, 16 November 1911, and bears a green halfpenny King George V stamp. It is addressed to Miss N. Crisp of Small Heath, Birmingham, and contains a handwritten birthday message signed Alice. Printed text on the reverse identifies the series and states the piece was chromographed in Berlin. The artwork is presented in a decorative gilded frame with scrolled foliate corner ornaments and a cream mount with a gold-tone inner border.
