An antique recording barograph produced by the scientific instrument makers Negretti and Zambra, London. The instrument is housed within a polished oak case featuring a five-panel glazed cover with bevelled glass panels for observation. The internal mechanism consists of an eight-tier aneroid bellows stack in white metal, connected via a brass lever system to a long recording arm fitted with a pen nib. The central brass drum contains a clockwork movement designed for a seven-day recording cycle. An integrated thermometer with a silvered brass scale is mounted internally, graduated in Fahrenheit from 30 to 120 degrees with descriptive markers including blood heat, summer heat, temperate, and freezing. The case is hinged at one end to allow access to the drum and is secured by two brass latches. A heavy-duty black-finished metal swing handle is fitted to the side for transport. The unit is accompanied by a substantial pad of unused recording charts by Casella, London, bearing the reference No. 735.
