Buyer's Premium:

A circular decorative trinket box constructed of wood with a polished black lacquer finish. The domed lid is decorated with hand-painted floral motifs in a folk-art style, depicting two pink and white hibiscus-like blossoms accented with yellow stamens and green foliage. A thin gold-tone band encircles the perimeter of the lid. The interior of the box contains a three-dimensional floral sculpture intricately carved from soap, featuring multiple layers of petals in shades of blue and white. This item is characteristic of traditional soap carving crafts commonly produced in Thailand, where such carvings are traditionally housed in hand-painted lacquerware containers. There are no visible Cyrillic signatures, maker’s marks, or hallmarks to suggest an association with the established Russian lacquer schools of Fedoskino, Palekh, Mstera, or Kholui. The item appears to be of modern production.
