Another Great Auction
A clear glass sphere decorated using the traditional Chinese inside-painting technique known as neihua. The interior is hand-painted with an arrangement of red, pink, and yellow peonies amongst green leaves, accompanied by two butterflies. To the side of the floral arrangement is a vertical calligraphic inscription in black ink including the characters 富貴 (wealth and honour), alongside a small red artist’s seal. The sphere sits upon a separate turned wooden stand with a dark mahogany-coloured stain and a tiered circular base.
