A pair of silver-plated sugar scuttles, each modelled after a traditional coal scuttle. The first scuttle is decorated with bright-cut engraving featuring foliate scrolls and circular motifs. It is finished with a beaded rim and stands on a circular pedestal foot. This scuttle is accompanied by a matching plain scoop with a tapered handle. The second scuttle features a single engraved sprig motif to the body and a beaded rim. It is mounted on a stepped circular pedestal foot with a beaded border and includes a matching scoop. These items were designed for serving granulated or caster sugar on a tea or dinner table. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible.
