Another Great Auction
A pair of cast pewter military figurines by sculptor Charles C. Stadden. The collection includes a figure identified as a Private of the 3rd New Jersey Regiment, American Revolutionary War, portrayed in a hunting shirt and tricorn hat while holding a long rifle. The flared base of this figure is decorated with an embossed American bald eagle clutching a shield and the George Washington family coat of arms featuring three stars over two bars. The second figure depicts a soldier of the Coldstream Guards, British Army, in early 19th-century field uniform including a bearskin cap and musket with a fixed bayonet. The base for this figure is embossed with the title COLDSTREAM GUARDS alongside the Garter Star and a Tudor rose emblem. Both pieces feature the incised signature Chas C. Stadden on the textured top surface of the weighted bell-shaped bases.
