Another Great Auction
This Victorian pocket shot flask is a product of James Dixon and Sons, Sheffield. The piece consists of a cylindrical body covered in dark brown leather with brass end caps. The top brass cap is fitted with a swivelling circular filler cover and a spring-actuated dispensing mechanism, which is operated via a thumb lever. This mechanism is integrated with a fixed, tapered brass nozzle designed for measuring and pouring lead shot. The swivelling brass cover on the top cap is stamped with the maker’s mark: DIXON & SONS in an upper arc and SHEFFIELD in a lower arc. The leather covering features a faint, hand-engraved inscription in cursive script, likely an owner’s name, with the initials H. B. followed by a surname discernable.
Total length: 10 cm.
