This set comprises four oval-shaped, domed plaques, likely intended for use as decorative cabochons for jewellery or small box inserts. Each plaque is decorated with hand-painted enamel depicting a female nude in various poses, set against stylised landscape backgrounds of greenery and sky. The painting style incorporates fine black line work for the figures with blended pastel and earthy tones for the flesh and surroundings. One figure is depicted reclining on a red-striped textile. The reverse of each plaque features a characteristic pinkish-tone counter-enamel over a copper base. These items are in the style of Limoges enamels, though they lack specific maker’s marks or signatures.
Two larger plaques width: approximately 48mm
Two smaller plaques width: approximately 40mm.
