Another Great Auction
A pair of Falkland Islands commemorative numismatic items in original Royal Mint presentation packaging. The collection comprises two crown-sized coins struck in cupro-nickel. The first item is a 1982 Liberation Crown, denominated as 50 pence. The obverse features the Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II FALKLAND ISLANDS 50 PENCE. It is housed in its original blue folder which includes a photograph of the 14th June 1982 flag-raising ceremony and is accompanied by a commemorative card from Government House, Stanley, dated 16th September 1982. The second item is a 1983 coin commemorating the 150th anniversary of the islands (1833-1983). The design features the ship Desire on the reverse. This coin is presented in its original green and blue card mount as issued by the Royal Mint.
