This document is an official service register for the Palestine Police Force, belonging to Tom Humphrey Mann, Force Number 253. The register features a dark blue textured cloth cover with gilt-lettered titles “PALESTINE POLICE” and “SERVICE REGISTER” flanking a central crest of the force. The force number “253” is handwritten in white at the base. Internally, the register contains a comprehensive extract from the enlistment record. Tom Humphrey Mann is recorded as a British national, born in Cardiff on 20 July 1915, and was previously a soldier. The record includes physical measurements, religious affiliation as Methodist, and next-of-kin details for his mother residing in Rhiwbina, Cardiff. A black and white portrait photograph of Mann in uniform is affixed to the first page, bearing a red official stamp for the Palestine Police Force Jerusalem, dated 10 August 1938. Subsequent pages detail service history and promotions within the force. Mann joined as a Constable on 30 July 1938 and later served within the Criminal Investigation Department (C.I.D.) as a Detective Constable from 1 June 1941. He was promoted to Detective Corporal in October 1944 and attained the rank of Detective Sergeant on 1 December 1946.
