A Dutch revival style fuel chest or log box dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The piece consists of a wooden carcass entirely clad in thin, embossed brass sheeting. The lid and the front panel are decorated in relief with tavern scenes in the Teniers style, depicting figures drinking and socialising in a rustic interior setting. These central panels are framed by borders of repeating circular and geometric motifs. The box is equipped with cast-metal drop-ring carrying handles on each side and features iron strap hinges and a metal stay chain to the interior. No maker’s marks or inscriptions were identified on the piece.
