A vintage United States Navy Mark V four-light diving helmet manufactured by the Morse Diving Equipment Company Incorporated of Boston, Massachusetts. The helmet features a heavy-gauge hammered copper bonnet with various brass fittings. It is designed with three fixed circular side and top viewing ports protected by brass guards, alongside a hinged front faceplate with a four-spoke circular guard. The bonnet is attached to a matching brass breastplate, which is complete with its four brass brails and associated wingnuts. External components include an adjustable exhaust valve with a control wheel, an air inlet elbow, and a communications port. A prominent oval brass manufacturer’s nameplate is riveted to the breastplate and is stamped: U.S. NAVY DIVING HELMET, MARK V, MORSE DIVING EQUIPMENT CO. INC, BOSTON MA, NO. 5049, DATE 1 9 29.
