A framed assembly of three printed paper elements commemorating the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson. The primary component is a large broadside titled Britannia Triumphant, which provides a detailed account of the Victorious British Fleet and the Vanquished Fleets of France and Spain. This broadside includes a tabulated list of participating vessels, their gun counts, commanding officers, and their eventual fate in the engagement. The lower edge carries the printer’s imprint for J. Smeeton, 148, St. Martin’s Lane, Charing Cross, London. The second element is a newspaper clipping dated Thursday, October 24, 1805, priced at Twelve-Pence, containing dispatches from Admiral C. Collingwood regarding the naval victory and the death of Lord Nelson. The third element is a separate typographic strip featuring the headline Nelson did his duty for England. The collection is presented on a black mount and housed within a modern black frame behind glass.
