This collection consists of an assortment of mid-to-late 20th-century British railway ephemera and related paper collectibles. Featured items include two cloth-bound pocket manuals titled Working Instructions (Manchester-Sheffield-Wath Electrified Lines); one with a green cover dated 1952, published by British Railways Eastern and London Midland Regions, and a second with a tan cover dated 1954, published by the British Transport Commission. Also included is a maroon vinyl-covered handbook titled British Railways Board Instructions to Staff Engaged on Maintenance of Signalling Apparatus (Ref. BR 13445), which is a 1974 reprint of the 1952 edition. A small blue booklet published by the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) titled All about the Manning Agreement for Drivers and Motormen of Diesel and Electric Locomotives and Multiple Unit Trains is present. Periodicals and pocketbooks include two editions of Motive Power Pocket Books (Summer 1979 and Summer 1980) and a souvenir postcard book titled Todays Steam Railways. Event and commemorative ephemera comprise a multi-page brochure for A Railway Spectacular Rocket 150 (Rainhill, May 1980), a promotional brochure for Steamtown Carnforth, and an orange-covered folding Map of the London and North Eastern Railway of England and Scotland. A black cloth-bound book with gilt lettering commemorates the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The lot also contains a vintage metal tin containing a quantity of loose used postage stamps, including 1953 Coronation commemoratives and various British regional issues. Additional items include circular coasters with steam locomotive illustrations and a box of miscellaneous loose papers, newspaper clippings, and pamphlets relating to the Bure Valley Railway and the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
