This lot comprises a trio of mid-20th-century ceramic items featuring advertising and literary themes. The first item is a point-of-sale advertising figure for Flowers’ Brewery of Stratford-upon-Avon, attributed to Carlton Ware. It depicts the iconic Brewmaster character wearing a red stocking cap, a red neckerchief, and a white shirt with a golden chain of office. He is shown holding a gold-banded tankard and a scroll, standing on a base printed with the text Pick Flowers Brewmaster. The second item is a black-glazed character bottle, the lower portion of which is molded as a stylized face, possibly representing a monk or friar. The reverse features a molded hood and knot detail, and the bottle is finished with a slender neck and a black screw-cap. The third item is a brown-glazed character decanter depicting Tony Weller from the Charles Dickens novel The Pickwick Papers. The figure is modeled wearing a signature top hat and a heavy, multi-collared greatcoat with button details.
