A contemporary abstract modernist sculpture hand-carved from a single piece of mottled buff and tan soapstone. The work depicts five interconnected, stylized figures, featuring two larger heads at the apex with elongated, arching limbs that descend to join three smaller figures in the centre. This configuration creates a continuous, fluid structure with central apertures, commonly associated with the ‘Ukama’ or family unity themes found in Kisii soapstone carvings from Kenya. The sculpture is set upon an integral hexagonal plinth carved from the same material. The stone exhibits natural variations in colour and texture throughout. No visible signatures, maker’s marks, or edition numbers were identified.
Height: 25.5 cm.
