Buyer's Premium:

This tall quarto volume is a limited edition facsimile reprint of the original 1853 work documenting the discovery of the ruins of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene within the Old Town Hall of Doncaster in 1846. Bound in dark green publisher’s cloth, the front board features an ornate decorative border in red and black ink, framing a central gold-gilt title. A limitation statement on the front endpaper identifies this as copy number 14 of 100 copies published. The work contains 36 pages of text followed by five plates and one map, featuring crisp reproductions of architectural drawings including the New Market-House and various views of the ruins. The volume is accompanied by an assortment of related ephemera, including a yellow pre-publication offer slip from Broadley Printers, Goole, a prospectus for Plans, Elevations, Sections, and Ornaments of the Mansion-House, Doncaster, and other promotional slips for local topographical publications.

Page size: 12.25 inches x 10 inches.
