A George III copper twopence dated 1797, commonly known as a cartwheel coin due to its size and thick raised rim. Produced at Matthew Boulton’s Soho Mint using steam-powered presses, this issue features incuse lettering on the rim. The obverse bears the laureate bust of King George III facing right with the inscription GEORGIUS III · D : G · REX ·. The reverse features the seated figure of Britannia facing left, holding a trident and olive branch, with the inscription BRITANNIA and the date 1797.
