This lot consists of a pair of mahogany-finished wooden entomological display cases, one containing seven pinned lepidoptera specimens. The specimens are mounted on pins against a white paper background with faint horizontal guiding lines. The collection primarily focuses on British hawk-moth (Sphingidae) species, including the Convolvulus Hawk-moth (Agrius convolvuli), Elephant Hawk-moth (Deilephila elpenor), Poplar Hawk-moth (Laothoe populi), Privet Hawk-moth (Sphinx ligustri), and Pine Hawk-moth (Sphinx pinastri). A single Speckled Wood butterfly (Pararge aegeria) is positioned at the bottom of the arrangement. The cases are deep mahogany-finished wooden boxes with glass-fronted lids. The second case is currently empty, retaining its lined paper backing.
