An Italian white glazed ceramic figural group consisting of a lidded container with a basket-weave textured base. The lid features two birds, identified as doves, resting beside a nest containing two eggs. The nest is embellished with fine, shredded ‘spaghetti’ ceramic detailing representing nesting material. The birds are finished with hand-painted black eyes and mottled pink and purple beaks. The entire piece is finished with a white lead glaze. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are visible.
