This mantel clock is housed in a stained wooden case, possibly mahogany or a similar hardwood, featuring an arched top surmounted by a turned finial. The case is detailed with reeded decorative pilasters to the sides and a glazed front door. The cream-coloured dial is set with black Roman numerals and decorated with a circular motif of floral rose swags. The dial is marked with the vertically oriented characters 31 DAY and features twin winding holes positioned at the four and eight o’clock marks. The movement is a mechanical, 31-day pendulum-driven type, typically striking on the hour and half-hour. A brass-toned pendulum is present but currently detached from the movement.
