A set of 60 pieces of commercial-grade melamine tableware, designed in a Japanese aesthetic. The pieces feature a speckled cream-coloured ground decorated with a minimalist, calligraphic-style brushstroke motif in dark brown and red. The decoration includes stylized characters that read oishii, which translates to delicious in Japanese. The collection includes a variety of forms: dinner plates, medium-sized plates, oval platters and dishes, a large round platter with an integral circular dipping well, square and rectangular shallow dishes, small scalloped shell-shaped dishes, and small bowls. The bases of the pieces bear an embossed circular mark containing the letters HS within a horizontal oval, the word MELAMINE in block capitals, and the model or pattern number A5008.
