An 18 carat yellow gold ruby and diamond cluster ring. The design features a central round faceted ruby, claw-set within a daisy cluster of eight small round-cut diamonds. The diamonds are grain-set in a white metal mount to the head of the ring. The yellow gold shank is finished with bifurcated shoulders accented by decorative horizontal bands. The interior of the shank is struck with British hallmarks including a crown for gold, the fineness mark 18 for 18 carat purity, an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, and a lowercase serif letter r date code, likely for the year 1916. The maker mark is partially indistinct but appears to read H.W.Ld, possibly for Henry Williamson Ltd.
