A decorative cast iron bust depicting a female figure in classical attire. The subject is portrayed with an intricate headdress and a necklace of large beads, wearing a gown with a ruffled neckline. The bust is cast on an integral, stepped rectangular base with rounded corners. The surface retains a dark patina with visible remnants of gold-coloured gilding in the recesses of the casting. This form is characteristic of the decorative terminals used on fireplace andirons produced during the late 19th century.
