This group of promotional wares commissioned by the Newcastle upon Tyne tea merchants, Ringtons, includes a variety of ceramic and decorative items. The collection features a yellow-glazed earthenware set of rectangular form, consisting of a teapot, two matching mugs, and a small tea bag tidy. These pieces are decorated with black transfer-printed illustrations of a horse-drawn carriage and the slogans Renowned for Purity, Strength & Flavour and See Analyst’s Report. Also present is a large globular lidded biscuit barrel styled as a teapot, finished with a cream ground and horizontal pastel stripes in yellow, blue, and pink, inscribed with Ringtons Biscuit Barrel. The lot further contains a ceramic container modelled as a vintage Ringtons delivery van in the traditional black and yellow livery, and a hand-painted figurine depicting a delivery man in a brown suit and bowler hat accompanied by a black dog. Completing the collection is a rectangular glass block featuring a laser-etched central image of a horse-drawn delivery carriage. While base marks are not visible, items of this type were historically produced for the company by noted British potteries such as Wade and Maling.
