This lot comprises two pieces of hand-painted artisanal earthenware, characteristic of Mediterranean pottery. The first item is a shallow oval dish attributed to the style of Vietri, Italy, featuring a central hand-painted octopus motif in reddish-brown tones with darker detailing for suckers, set against light blue wash shapes. The rim is finished with a border of cobalt blue dabs. The reverse shows a white glazed surface with an unglazed foot rim containing a small notch for a hanging wire. The second item is a small circular bowl with a flared rim. The exterior is decorated in a deep cobalt blue glaze with white resist-style motifs depicting dolphins and five-pointed stars. The interior is finished in a plain cream glaze. No maker’s marks are visible on the base of either piece.
Length of oval dish: approximately 17.5 cm.
