This vintage utility tool is a multi-functional piece comprising a nutcracker and a bottle opener, manufactured from cast brass. The nutcracker is designed in the form of a stylised long-tailed bird, possibly a peacock, where the head serves as the pivot point. The interior of the neck and the corresponding base section feature serrated jaws for cracking nuts. The bird’s tail functions as the moving lever, while the main body is mounted to a circular plate with an integrated handle. The circular mounting plate features an embossed loop at the top for use as a bottle opener. The plate is clearly marked with the word ISRAEL in Latin characters, with a line of Hebrew script embossed directly below. The piece is decorated with cast relief details, including feather patterns on the bird and scrolling motifs along the stationary handle.
