A 1998 United Kingdom Silver Proof Piedfort Two-Pound coin issued by the Royal Mint. This specimen features the Technological Development reverse design and is struck in bimetallic format, consisting of a .925 sterling silver core within a .925 sterling silver outer ring that has been gold-plated (gilt). As a piedfort issue, the coin is double the thickness and weight of a standard circulating two-pound coin. The item is struck to a proof finish with frosted design elements and mirrored fields. It is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule and presented in its original Royal Mint black leatherette case with a white satin-lined interior and a certificate of authenticity.
