The piece depicts an anthropomorphic rabbit as a Roman gladiator, wearing a grey galeated helmet and a brown layered tunic. The figure holds a grey trident in its right hand and a rectangular shield in its left, decorated with blue scrollwork and a central red boss. A textured net is slung over the figure’s shoulder. The figurine stands upon a circular base with a sand-textured finish. It is crafted from hand-decorated fine earthenware with a high-gloss glaze. The underside of the base features a printed black backstamp which includes the Bunnykins logo, by Royal Doulton, the collection title, the model name Gladiator, model number DB 326, and a copyright date of 2003. This lot includes the original red Royal Doulton Bunnykins presentation box, a red information card, and a yellow paper swing tag.
