This lot consists of sixteen fine bone china dishes produced for commercial in-flight service. The dishes were manufactured by Royal Doulton for the former British airline Britannia Airways. Each piece is of square form with lobed corners and shallow sides, decorated with a cream-coloured glaze and a thin gold-coloured line at the rim. One exterior side of each dish bears a gilt transfer-printed logo depicting the seated figure of Britannia with a shield and trident within a laurel wreath. The base of the pieces features a grey transfer-printed backstamp showing a lion surmounting a crown, with text reading Royal Doulton England, Made in England, and Bone China. The mark also includes a central four-loop motif and a separate five-pointed star.
