An Edwardian mahogany writing slope featuring flush-mounted brass corner reinforcements. The lid is inset with a central shaped brass presentation plaque inscribed with the characters D. B. S., 1911, LEWIS MEMORIAL, PRIZE, and WILLIAM WHITE. The interior reveals a slanted writing surface lined with red leather featuring a gold-tooled border. The upper section is fitted with compartments designed for inkwells and a central pen tray.
