A comprehensive Fuji China porcelain service comprising 88 pieces, produced in Japan for the export market. The service is crafted from fine white porcelain and features a hand-painted gilt-tone landscape pattern in the traditional Japanese style. The decoration depicts Mount Fuji, pagodas, pavilions, and pine and bamboo trees. Gold-coloured gilding accents the rims, handles, and finials of each piece. The underside of the items bears a red backstamp featuring a stylized representation of Mount Fuji above the text FUJI CHINA and MADE IN JAPAN.
The collection includes a large oval serving platter, a large oval serving bowl, two teapots of varying sizes, a tall slender coffee pot, three lidded sugar bowls, and three cream or milk jugs of various forms. The service is completed by a large quantity of tea cups with matching saucers and multiple stacks of plates in three distinct sizes, including dinner, dessert, and side plates.
