A collection of thirteen circular decorative porcelain plates featuring the artwork of Donald Zolan, produced by Pemberton and Oakes. The collection comprises various themed series, notably from the Wonder of Childhood and A Child’s Christmas collections. The plates are transfer-printed with polychrome illustrations depicting children in various sentimental settings. Specific identified designs include Spring Innocence from 1983, and A Child’s Christmas annual plates for 1979, 1980, and 1981. One larger Christmas plate from 1979 depicts an indoor festive dancing scene, and another plate dated 1977 features a central tree motif surrounded by a border of deer and foliage. Each plate is mounted within a circular dark wood frame. The reverse of the porcelain bears printed marks identifying the artist, the series title, the production year, and the maker Pemberton and Oakes. Inscriptions also state that the plates are for decorative purposes only and not for food use due to the metallic pigments used in the firing process.
