A vintage West German glazed ceramic Rumtopf or rum pot of ovoid form with a conforming lid. The piece is constructed from mould-formed earthenware with a two-tone gloss glaze finish. The body and lid feature a dark brown treacle-coloured glaze with vertical fluted texture. The front of the jar displays relief-moulded lettering reading RUMTOPF above a central circular medallion. This medallion depicts a fruit motif, possibly a peach or plum, highlighted in a contrasting honey-coloured glaze and enclosed within a rope-effect border. The jar is fitted with two small integrated scroll handles at the shoulders, while the lid is finished with a central knob handle and vertical ribbing.
